The Catalan coach signs a two-year deal with the German club after his stints in Turkey with Darüşşafaka and Mersin

MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg has officially named Carles Durán Ortega as its new head coach for the 2026-27 season.

The 50-year-old Catalan coach signed a two-year contract and replaces Mikko Riipinen after a selection process involving six candidates.

Durán Ortega previously coached in Spain with Prat, Bilbao Basket and especially Joventut Badalona, helping La Penya return to the upper part of the Liga and to European competition. In recent seasons, he worked in Turkey with Darüşşafaka and Mersin MSK.
