Jared Harper has publicly addressed the debate surrounding the Winner League restart, arguing that the voices of foreign players are not being heard enough. The issue comes as the league moves ahead with a restart plan that sets the return of games in Israel for no later than April 18, 2026, with neutral-site games and no fans.
In his statement, the Hapoel Jerusalem guard asked: “Is there a players’ association for the foreign players in the league? Why isn’t there a single players’ association representing all players in the league?” Harper said he was not strictly arguing whether the decision to return games to Israel was right or wrong, but insisted that every player perspective should be taken into account.
He also said the matter goes beyond the current restart issue, pointing to wider topics such as player safety, rule changes, playing conditions and relationships with referees. Harper suggested that each team should have one Israeli and one foreign player acting as representatives, adding: “This is a time to show unity among all players, not division.”
I feel like we are missing the perspectives of the foreign players in the league. With all due respect—and nothing against the Israeli Players Association—they have every right to defend and speak on their concerns.
