La serata di Dillon Brooks contro i Los Angeles Lakers è cambiata in un istante, subito dopo la tripla del sorpasso a 12.2 secondi dalla fine.
Andato petto a petto con LeBron James, l’ala dei Phoenix Suns ha ricevuto il secondo tecnico ed è stata espulso.
L’episodio è l’ultimo capitolo di una rivalità accesa fin dai playoff 2023, quando Brooks definì James «old» e dichiarò: «I poke bears».
Nel match di Phoenix i due si erano già provocati: primo tecnico a Brooks dopo pochi secondi per spinte a rimbalzo, poi un tecnico anche a James nel terzo quarto.
Per il crew chief Tyler Ford, il secondo tecnico è arrivato per «unsportsmanlike contact during the dead ball» da parte di Brooks.
«He brought his antics. Tonight it cost him», ha commentato Jarred Vanderbilt, mentre Devin Booker ha difeso l’intensità del compagno: «I’d rather it the other way — that it’d be too much».
