On Monday 25 May, the Euroleague management held a video conference with the clubs holding the A license, during which it was decided to cancel the current season. This year’s title will not be awarded.
The important news for our club was that for the next season the tournament will keep the same participants who played in this. This means that Zenit will play in the Euroleague again!
General manager of Zenit Alexander Tserkovny:
– We had no doubt that the Euroleague made the only right decision, based on the analysis of the situation after all the parties were heard. The decision-making process of the final verdict against the backdrop of unprecedented events around the world once again underlines the very high level of management of the best basketball league in Europe. Obviously, we were disappointed with the early end of the season, but the main priority now is the health of all participants of the events, and the main objective is to make the 2020/21 season compensate with all the level and quality of basketball that the whole world of basketball has lost due to the pandemic. BC Zenit is happy for the second chance to play in the Euroleague and will do everything to take advantage of it. Congratulations to our fans and players.
