Virtus Bologna suffered its first home defeat of the EuroLeague season, falling 79-68 to Zalgiris Kaunas at PalaDozza. The game stayed balanced through the first half before the Lithuanian side took control after the break.
Virtus made the stronger start and closed the first quarter ahead 22-14, led by Frazier, who scored 11 points in a short stretch. Zalgiris responded in the second period through Grigonis and greater physicality, eventually taking a 29-28 lead and going into halftime up 37-35.
The turning point came in the third quarter. Kaunas raised its intensity, capitalized on Virtus’ shooting struggles and built its first double-digit lead. A technical foul on Alex Mumbru did not spark the hosts, and Zalgiris led 65-53 after 30 minutes.
Virtus tried to rally in the fourth, but baskets from Brown and Valanciunas kept the Italian side at bay. The hosts could not reverse the momentum and suffered their first home loss of the European campaign.
