Zalgiris Kaunas are close to securing Azuolas Tubelis on a new contract through 2029. According to BasketNews, the three-year agreement would prevent him from moving to another EuroLeague club at least until 2028, while still including NBA exit opportunities in the summers.
Tubelis is coming off a strong debut EuroLeague season, averaging 12.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 12.7 PIR per game. Several EuroLeague powerhouses reportedly showed major interest and were prepared to pay a €1 million buyout.
The new deal is expected to make Tubelis the highest-paid player in Zalgiris history. The Lithuanian club are also working on Sylvain Francisco’s extension, continue to pursue Jonas Valanciunas, and are nearing agreements with Marius Grigonis and Marek Blazevic.
