Yaxel Lendeborg added another remarkable chapter to his early NBA career. The Golden State Warriors rookie scored 37 points on 13-of-19 shooting with six 3-pointers in the 124-112 win over the Clippers.
It was the highest-scoring performance by a Warriors rookie since Stephen Curry in 2010. Lendeborg has already topped 30 points twice in his first seven NBA games after doing it only once in 112 college appearances.
“Whenever Steph’s not in the game, it’s my opportunity to try to be the leader, be the main guy,” Lendeborg said. Steve Kerr added: “It’s remarkable the impact he’s making. It changes everything.” Lendeborg is now averaging 22.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists, generating legitimate early Rookie of the Year buzz.
