Coach Xavi Pascual gave an interview to Eurohoops and, among other topics, shared his thoughts on the EuroLeague expansion and the inevitable increase in the number of games. Here are his statements.
Pascual said: “Personally, I really like the EuroLeague system. I love the Final Four. It’s certainly unfair, but we play for the people. A big part of our job is creating a connection with our team’s fans and with basketball enthusiasts.”
On the EuroLeague expansion: “The only problem for me at the moment is the increase in the number of games (from 34 to 38 due to the increase of teams from 18 to 20). In some national leagues, like in Spain for example, the combination of both competitions will be incredible. I don’t know how it will be manageable. More games every 48 hours. Inevitably, there will be more injuries. It will be very difficult, in my opinion.”
