The Washington Wizards are actively looking to acquire future draft picks, according to The Athletic. The team holds a $12.4 million traded player exception, obtained from last year’s Daniel Gafford trade to the Dallas Mavericks, which expires on February 10. Washington is willing to use it to absorb salaries and act as a facilitator in a multi-team deal—provided they receive valuable draft assets in return.
Additionally, the Wizards are open to trading Malcolm Brogdon and Marvin Bagley III, both on expiring contracts, as well as Richaun Holmes, whose $13.3 million salary for next season is only partially guaranteed at $250,000. With the trade deadline fast approaching, Washington is focused on maximizing its assets for long-term rebuilding.
