According to Sport.es, Willy Hernangómez is close to joining Baskonia for the upcoming season. The Spanish center’s priority is reportedly to remain in the ACB League, with the Vitoria-based club now emerging as the favorite to secure his signature.
Baskonia is looking for a replacement for Mamadi Diakite, who is set to move to Dubai, and is also seriously considering the addition of Chimezie Metu. The Nigerian forward-center recently became available after his stint with Barcelona and remains one of the main targets to strengthen the team’s frontcourt.
Meanwhile, Barcelona is undergoing a major rebuild at the center position. Alongside Hernangómez’s expected departure, Youssoupha Fall is also leaving the club, while Jan Vesely is set to retire from professional basketball. To fill the gaps, the Catalan side has already secured Moses Wright and Josh Nebo, while continuing to search for another big man.
