Willy Hernangomez is set to continue his career with Unicaja Malaga. According to Diario SUR, with BasketNews sources confirming the agreement, the Spanish center has reached a deal with the Andalusian club for the upcoming season.
Hernangomez, 32, arrives after three seasons with Barcelona, where he never fully established himself as one of the club’s leading players. His EuroLeague numbers gradually declined: 11.0 points and 4.8 rebounds in his first year, 7.9 and 4.2 in his second, and 5.6 points with 3.8 rebounds in around 14 minutes during the 2025-26 season.
Unicaja will add him to the frontcourt after Olek Balcerowski’s move to Barcelona. A former New York Knicks, Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans big man, Hernangomez also has a strong résumé with Spain’s national team, winning the 2019 FIBA World Cup and earning EuroBasket 2022 MVP honors.
