Victor Wembanyama continues to look for new ways to take his game to the next level. After spending part of last offseason at the Shaolin Temple, where he practiced Kung Fu to train both his body and mind, the San Antonio Spurs star has now taken his training to the rugby pitch in Provence, France, alongside teammate Harrison Barnes.
The exact goal of the rugby sessions has not been revealed, but the sport demands strength, stamina, core stability and elite physical control — all valuable traits for a basketball player.
Wembanyama’s Shaolin experience appeared to pay off last season. He posted career highs of 25.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, finished third in MVP voting and led the Spurs to the NBA Finals.
At just 22 years old, the French star continues to explore different training methods as he looks to expand his physical and technical toolkit.
