The San Antonio Spurs star joined the French Pro D2 club for a four-day training camp, hoping to develop new movement patterns that could benefit his basketball game.

Victor Wembanyama has checked another offseason goal off his list by spending four days training with Provence Rugby, a club competing in France’s Pro D2.

According to Midi Olympique and La Provence, the Spurs superstar joined the team’s preseason activities in Aix-en-Provence, taking part in gym sessions and on-field drills while wearing rugby boots. The experience was kept largely private, with no footage of Wembanyama participating in rugby drills being released.

He was not the only NBA player in attendance, as Spurs teammate Harrison Barnes also joined the club during the four-day experience.

The training camp fulfilled a plan Wembanyama had previously revealed, explaining that he wanted to work with a rugby team to expose his body to different movement patterns and physical demands that he believes can ultimately improve his performance on the basketball court.
