Warriors reportedly dealt Wanamaker to Charlotte to promote Mannion as Curry’s backup

Italian rookie guard is shining after G-League stint.

According to Warriors insider Monte Poole, the Golden State Warriors decided to trade Brad Wanamaker to Charlotte because they believe guard Nico Mannion can be their backup PG for the forseeable future.

Italian rookie is averaging 4.4 ppg and 2.6 apg for the season, but those averages climbs to 6.5 ppg and 3.1 apg (in 18.3 mpg) in the 8 games played after the end of the G-League bubble in Orlando. Mannion is on a two-way contract with Golden State.
