The Golden State Warriors are reportedly giving serious thought to making a move for LeBron James this summer. According to Marc Stein, the idea “has some legs,” suggesting that the concept is more than just background speculation inside league circles.
This is not an entirely new scenario: Golden State had already explored the possibility of landing LeBron in the past before turning to other options. The topic is now resurfacing because the Warriors know their window to build another title contender around Stephen Curry is getting shorter.
It remains an open market scenario, however, since James is set to become a free agent this summer and much will also depend on the direction chosen by the Los Angeles Lakers. For now nothing is decided, but the report is strong enough to make this one of the biggest NBA offseason storylines to watch.
