Former Serbian national team center Vladimir Stimac was arrested in Belgrade during protests near the Serbian parliament

Former Serbian national team center Vladimir Stimac was arrested in Belgrade during protests near the Serbian parliament, according to Eurohoops.net. Authorities detained 37 people for disturbing public order, alleging that Stimac urged demonstrators to attack another gathering and the police.

He was held overnight and released Monday morning, with his lawyer filing an appeal over the delay. The protests, ongoing since the Novi Sad train station canopy collapse that killed 16 people, continue to divide the capital. Stimac, who retired in 2023, played 111 EuroLeague games and won silver medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics, 2014 FIBA World Cup, and EuroBasket 2017.
