If you’re a basketball player, chances are you’ve had this experience: a practice, game, or season ends and you want to get better. Maybe you know what you need to work on, maybe you don’t. Either way, your biggest hurdle is how to get better.

“I’ve had young players coming up to me all the time asking how they can get better”, said pro player and Co-Founder of Train, Vlad Moldoveanu. “Besides telling them to find a good skills trainer and practicing more, I didn’t really have a good answer”.

Outside of working with coaches and trainers, the options for players to learn and improve their game fall into two categories: spend hours searching on Youtube and other social media channels for high-quality instruction, or find individual coaches or trainers online and purchase their content.

Each of these approaches has their downsides. Coaches only have so much time to work with players. Trainers can be cost prohibitive for most people and have limited time availability. Players can waste a lot of time searching for content on Youtube and social media (as well as get easily distracted). And purchasing content from trainers online typically means you’re locked into one style of instruction.

Vlad and his co-founders at Train thought there had to be a better way. When they couldn’t find one, they decided to create it themselves.

Train is a basketball training and education platform that partners with coaches around the world to create high-quality content for players of all levels.

“From the players perspective, we wanted to make sure the content was affordable, we weren’t pushing one specific training style or methodology for developing your game, and we wanted to be able to confidently say this is the only online resource you’ll need as a player to get better”, said Vlad. “I think we’re on our way to meeting our goal”.

The backbone of the Train platform is its coaches. The Train team recruits and welcomes basketball coaches and trainers at all levels of the game, helping them produce and promote their content. Coaches on Train make money from their content in a variety of ways, such as upfront payments, referrals generated through a unique link, and streaming royalties.

“Train is a platform, not a basketball organization or methodology. When coaches create content for us, it’s published and promoted under their own brand. We want all our coaches to use Train to grow their audience and supplement their income. We’re successful as a platform if our coaches are successful”.

The ultimate goal for Train is not only to be the go-to resource for basketball players with the largest library of high-quality basketball training content, but to build a platform that helps players and coaches around the world connect at a deeper level.

Players looking to improve their game can get started on the platform with a 7-day, risk free trial. Plans start at $9.99 per month.

Coaches and trainers interested in partnering with Train can message them on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter using the handle @gotrainbb.
