Virtus CEO Baraldi says they are ready to play in EuroLeague if one of the 18 teams will “give up”

Baraldi: The confirmation of the 18 EuroLeague teams was an expected decision

Virtus Bologna CEO, Luca Baraldi, spoke about EuroLeague’s decisions to cancel the season and confirm the 18 teams for next season too.

Baraldi spoke with La Repubblica.

Season canceled.

“No surprise. I said two months ago that the season was going to be canceled and this is what happened. It was right to wait and it was right to cancel it. EuroLeague has been perfect. Not like in Italy where FIP and Legabasket got caught up in an incomprehensible haste. We had waited on May 16 to decide, as we had agreed, rather than throwing everything in the air early in April, perhaps we would be on the ever of returning to the court, like Germany or Spain. By isolating in Sicily or Sardinia, with the right formula, the Serie A championship could have ended. Too bad. We will remember this as a cursed year”

EuroLeague confirmed the same teams for next season.

The confirmation of the 18 EuroLeague teams was an expected decision. Now let’s see if all the 18 teams are willing to participate. Panathinaikos, as reported, has expressed some doubts. If all the 18 teams confirm their presence in EuroLeague, we would have no chance. We have already filed an application to be taken in consideration in case of some teams will give up on playing in EuroLeague.

Next season for Virtus.

We counted that this was the year of EuroLeague, but we’ll have a stop. So less income, less investments and a revised budget.”
