Virtus Bologna lands Alen Smailagic, former Warriors and Zalgiris center, on a two-year contract with option

Alen Smailagic, 24, is set to become the new center for Virtus Bologna. The Serbian big man has left Zalgiris and has started medicals at Isokinetic ahead of signing.

Virtus quickly closed the deal, securing Smailagic on a two-year contract with an option for a third season. Last EuroLeague season, he averaged 8.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15 minutes.

After his NBA stint with the Golden State Warriors, Smailagic returned to Europe with Partizan and Zalgiris, proving himself as a high-impact player for coach Ivanovic’s Virtus.
