Virtus Bologna, new sponsor to be announced today

Virtus will announce its new sponsor today.

Today is the day Virtus Bologna will unveil its new sponsor. Following the agreement signed on September 1, the Italian club is set to reveal the name of the brand that will accompany the team next season. The announcement is expected after lunchtime, as reported by Il Resto del Carlino and Repubblica.

The new partner will feature on Virtus’ jerseys in the Italian league and will make its debut on Wednesday, when the team plays its first preseason game in Bologna against Maxima Roma. The official season will then get underway on Saturday in Tortona, with the Supercoppa semifinal against Olimpia Milano. According to Repubblica, the possibility of extending the agreement to the EuroLeague remains open, while for now the brand will be associated with the team in Serie A.

As reported by Il Resto del Carlino, the negotiations were handled directly by Massimo Zanetti, and the new agreement should give Virtus greater stability in planning not only the upcoming season but also those that follow. The newspaper also highlights the club’s focus on the future EuroLeague franchise project, which would require a total investment of €50 million over ten years.

The sponsor’s name has not yet been officially revealed, although Il Resto del Carlino reports that the tourism sector could be involved. The unveiling of the new jersey and the first official photos are also expected to take place outside Bologna, at the sponsor’s request.

The announcement comes ahead of an important week for Virtus, who will face Maxima Roma before immediately taking on Olimpia Milano for the first trophy of the season. Meanwhile, Kalifa Sakho’s situation remains worth monitoring, with his contract set to expire on September 30. The club could consider extending his deal to add further depth to the frontcourt, one of Alex Mumbrú’s priorities.
