Virtus Bologna appear to have identified their next head coach for the 2026-27 season. According to Backdoor Podcast, Alex Mumbru has emerged as the leading candidate to take over the bench following the departures of Dusko Ivanovic and, subsequently, interim coach Nenad Jakovljevic.
The Spanish coach has reportedly moved ahead of the other candidates considered by the club’s management, including Aleksandar Sekulic. The two sides are believed to be close to reaching an agreement, with further developments expected in the coming days.
As Virtus prepare for a summer of significant changes, Mumbru could become the cornerstone of the club’s new technical project and lead the team into its next chapter.
