“We started with the objective of improving the albeit honourable fourteenth place of last year’s edition. In the EuroLeague, technical level and physicality have a different impact than in the national championships. I remind my owners and insiders that Olimpia Milano at its first participation in this competition had finished last or penultimate’.

“Luca arrived at the start of the season, two days before the Italian Supercoppa. He transformed the mentality of a team depressed by a technical situation that saw it mortified every day: those who coached these players transmitted to them a lack of confidence. The group was experiencing deep psychological discomfort. With Banchi the reaction was immediate: the boys wanted to show everyone, and mainly those who criticised them, that they were not those described in the summer’.
