The first week of work at the Porelli has allowed Virtus Bologna to take a closer look at Matteo Baiocchi and Livio Berlingeri, two young players the club has decided to rely on to complete the Italian contingent of the roster, as reported by Il Resto del Carlino.
The most interesting situation concerns Berlingeri. According to Eugenio Petrillo, several European and Italian clubs had shown interest in the youngster. These included Ulm and Baskonia, two clubs known for their ability to develop young players, as well as the two Rome teams and Napoli. Despite the competition, Virtus decided to strongly believe in the 2008-born player and keep him in Bologna.
Berlingeri and Baiocchi are therefore expected to occupy the sixth and seventh Italian spots on the Virtus roster. The first week at the Porelli has given both players an important opportunity to showcase themselves and confirm the club’s confidence in them.
