“This was my dream when I lived here,” Wembanyama said during the ceremony, where he performed the ceremonial first dunk. The court designs include nods to the Spurs logo and the Le Chesnay clock tower, symbolizing the connection between his NBA journey and his roots.
The Spurs supported the $500,000 project, with CEO RC Buford emphasizing its role in fostering community spirit: “This is about creating a hub for the community and honoring Victor’s journey.”
The courts were completed in time for the Spurs’ visit to France, where they’ll play two games in Paris against the Indiana Pacers.
