Victor Wembanyama to play for France in next FIBA window

The Spurs center will be available for the FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers

Victor Wembanyama will play for France in the next FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers window. According to Maxime Aubin of L’Équipe, the San Antonio Spurs center has decided to join the national team for the August games.

Wembanyama, coming off a major NBA season with San Antonio, has already started conditioning work with trainer Guillaume Alquier to prepare for both the FIBA window and the upcoming season. France finished the first qualifying stage with a 5-1 record despite his absence.

Les Bleus will host Slovenia on August 27 before facing Sweden on the road on August 30 in the new Group L. For France, Wembanyama’s return is a major boost on the road to the 2027 World Cup.
