Victor Wembanyama was ejected for the first time in his NBA career during Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The San Antonio Spurs star was assessed a flagrant foul 2 after elbowing Naz Reid early in the second quarter.

The play came with 8:39 left before halftime, after Wembanyama was pressured by Reid and Jaden McDaniels outside the paint. Following video review, officials ruled that the contact to Reid’s jaw and neck area was excessive, triggering an automatic ejection.
Spurs coach Mitch Johnson did not condone the action but called for more protection for Wembanyama, saying: “At some stage, he should be protected. If not, he’s going to have to protect himself.” De’Aaron Fox also suggested that an earlier foul call could have prevented the incident.
Wembanyama finished with 4 points, 4 rebounds and 3 fouls in 13 minutes, the lowest scoring game of his career across regular season and playoffs. Minnesota went on to win 114-109, tying the series at 2-2 before Game 5 in San Antonio.
