ARIS BC announces the signing of Vassilis Toliopoulos through 2030, following his transfer from Panathinaikos AKTOR.
Vassilis Toliopoulos was born on June 15, 1996. Standing at 1.88 metres, he plays at both guard positions.
The Greek international returns “home” after an absence of just one year. He first wore the ARIS jersey midway through the 2018–19 season and, from 2022 to 2025, wrote his own chapter in the club’s history, sharing unforgettable moments with the team and leading it to major victories. This will be his third spell with ARIS, on a four-year deal.
Vassilis Toliopoulos began his basketball journey in the youth system of Panionios and started his professional career with Ikaros Chalkidas in 2013. He played for Kolossos Rhodes during the 2014–15 season before signing a multi-year contract with Olympiacos.
Midway through the 2018–19 season, he joined ARIS, before moving to AEK in the summer of 2019. He spent the 2020–21 campaign on loan at Ionikos Nikaias and played for PAOK the following season.
In the summer of 2022, he returned to ARIS, where he remained for three years, apart from a brief spell with French club Boulazac after the end of the 2022–23 season.
During the 2023–24 campaign, he averaged 13.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists in the Stoiximan GBL, as well as 14.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists in the BKT EuroCup. That same season, he was named the Stoiximan GBL Most Improved Player.
In 2024–25, he averaged 15.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in the Greek league. In the BKT EuroCup, he recorded 13.7 points, 2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1 steal per game.
In 2025, he joined Panathinaikos AKTOR and now returns to Nick Galis Hall.
At club level, he has won one Greek Championship with Olympiacos in 2016 and two Greek Cups, with AEK in 2020 and Panathinaikos AKTOR in 2026.
At international level, the 30-year-old guard represented Greece at every youth level and made his senior national team debut in 2021. He has since become an important member of the squad. He competed at the 2024 Olympic Games and won the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2025.
In 34 appearances for the Greek senior national team, he has scored 293 points, averaging 8.62 points per game.
