After Cyprus–Greece, a Georgian journalist asked Vassilis Spanoulis why his AS Monaco assistant, Manuchar Markoishvili, was absent from the national team at EuroBasket 2025.

Spanoulis replied: “Also my other assistant, Ilias Kantzouris, is not here. Someone must coach the team back in Monaco, not everyone can be present. I was expecting a basketball question”.

Following the exchange, the journalist apologized to the Greek staff, speaking with Nikos Zisis after the press conference. The moment was captured by Sport24.
