Vasilije Micic has not yet matched expectations at Hapoel Tel Aviv, especially considering the scale of his contract and reputation.
According to Israel Hayom, the Serbian point guard is still far from the dominant version that once ruled the EuroLeague.
The report points to several reasons: his NBA spell, a physical condition that is not fully back, and a difficult summer that reportedly affected both rhythm and confidence.
It also argues that Dimitris Itoudis’ system does not suit Micic in the same way the old Anadolu Efes structure once did.
Even so, Hapoel have not given up on their star signing. The message from inside the club is clear: “He still hasn’t returned physically to his level, but the brain is there and the basketball is there.”
And also: “In the future people will still say it was lucky that he came to us,” a sign that belief remains strong ahead of the most important stretch of the season.
