Utah Jazz trade Simone Fontecchio to Detroit Pistons

The Italian forward was producing 8.9 points (39 percent from three), 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 23 minutes per game in his second season with the Jazz.

Adrian Wojnarowski reports on a trade between the Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons.
Simone Fontecchio ends up with the Pistons, while in return the Jazz get a 2024 second-round pick, Kevin Knox, and the NBA rights to another Italian player, Gabriele Procida.

The reporter reveals that Detroit, decidedly short on shooters, considers the Italian forward part of the team’s future core.

Fontecchio will become a restricted free agent next offseason, but Detroit will have a chance to match any offer.

The forward was producing 8.9 points (39 percent from three), 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 23 minutes per game in his second season with the Jazz.

In Detroit Fontecchio could have more offensive responsibilities, on a team that struggles on both ends of the court. Moreover, barring news in the next 24 hours, he will also find Danilo Gallinari among his new teammates.
