Unicaja Malaga name Txus Vidorreta as new head coach on two-year deal

The Basque coach leaves La Laguna Tenerife and starts a new chapter on Unicaja Malaga’s bench

Txus Vidorreta is the new head coach of Unicaja Malaga. The Spanish club announced an agreement with the experienced Basque coach for the next two seasons, opening a new era in Malaga.

Vidorreta joins Unicaja after a highly successful spell with La Laguna Tenerife, where he won two Basketball Champions League titles and two FIBA Intercontinental Cups. He was recently named the best coach in BCL history.

Born in Bilbao in 1966, Vidorreta has coached 741 games in Liga Endesa, the fifth-highest total in the competition’s history, and has recorded 114 wins in 156 Basketball Champions League games. He also won the Supercopa Endesa with Valencia Basket.

Unicaja are betting on one of the most respected coaches in Spanish basketball as they aim to keep competing at the highest level in Liga Endesa and in Europe.
