Ukraine Make a Statement: Mykhailiuk Powers Rout of Denmark

Ukraine delivered a dominant road win in Farum, beating Denmark 99-69 in the first round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers.

The turning point came in the second quarter, when Ivan Tkachenko’s fast-break dunk gave Ukraine a 32-31 lead and sparked the decisive run.

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk was the clear star of the night, scoring 30 points in just 23 minutes and 30 seconds, shooting 9-of-16 from the field, 6-of-10 from three and 6-of-6 at the line.

Oleksandr Kovliar added a strong all-around performance with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists, while Tkachenko finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.

Denmark had led by as many as 6 points in the opening quarter, but lost control after Ukraine’s second-quarter surge. Gustav Drejer Erichsen led the hosts with 14 points.
