Bayern Munich has announced the return of Tyrese Rice. The former point guard will officially join Anton Gavel’s coaching staff on September 1 as the club’s new Head of Player Development.
Rice previously played for Bayern during the 2012-13 season, averaging 15.8 points per game. He won the EuroLeague and Final Four MVP award with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2014 before lifting the EuroCup with Khimki in 2015. He made 112 EuroLeague appearances, averaging 11.2 points and 4.2 assists.
The 39-year-old has worked as an individual coach in Houston in recent years, supporting young prospects and NBA players. Bayern has also added André van Staa as its new rehabilitation coach and additional physiotherapist.
