According to Bobby Marks, another major individual honor could unlock a supermax path with the 76ers

Tyrese Maxey could put himself in position for one of the largest contracts in NBA history. According to ESPN salary-cap expert Bobby Marks, the Philadelphia 76ers star could eventually become eligible for a five-year extension worth approximately $389 million.

Maxey earned All-NBA honors in 2026, but he was not able to sign a supermax extension this offseason because he was one year short of the required seven seasons of NBA service. Another All-NBA selection, or an MVP or Defensive Player of the Year award during the 2026-27 season, would make him eligible in 2027 for a four-year, $301 million extension.

The bigger scenario could come in 2028: if Maxey earns All-NBA recognition in two of three seasons, he could automatically qualify for a five-year, $389 million deal. After Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the 76ers guard could become one of the next NBA supermax faces.
