Troy appoint Adam Howard as new head coach

After ESPN’s initial report, the move is now official: Howard will lead the Trojans following Scott Cross’ departure

Troy University has named Adam Howard as the new head coach of its men’s basketball program. The hire quickly settles the post-Scott Cross transition after Cross left for Georgia Tech, and puts the program in the hands of a coach already familiar with Troy.

Howard comes from his assistant role at NC State, after previous stops at Nebraska and South Alabama. It is also a return to Troy for him, as he previously worked on the Trojans’ staff from 2016 to 2018 and helped the program reach the NCAA tournament.

Howard will be formally introduced at a press conference on Monday. Troy now enters a new phase aiming to build on a program that has reached back-to-back NCAA tournaments and posted five straight 20-win seasons.
