Tornike Shengelia will be a new Barcelona player: three-year contract (2+1) already finalised, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The first to break the news was Sportando.
The Georgian, just back from a 15.6 points and 5 rebounds season in the Euroleague with Virtus, will arrive at the Palau as a Spanish-trained player, replacing Metu second MD.
We read: ‘Barça have already secured their first signing for next season. After confirming the renewal of Kevin Punter, the club’s second move was the signing of Tornike Shengelia, who will sign a three-year contract, the third year of which is optional with a renewal clause for both parties.”
“The added value of Shengelia is that he will occupy a position as a form (he plays as a Spaniard in the ACB, ed.), which will allow Barça greater flexibility of movement, especially if the departure of Willy Hernangómez is confirmed. The Georgian player retains this status after his formative years at Valencia Basket. On the other hand, Barça will not have to pay Baskonia the right of first refusal, as the player had to pay a termination fee to leave CSKA in 2020’.
