Toko Shengelia drops career-high 33 points in CSKA Moscow win vs Zenit

CSKA Moscow won the Russian derby against Zenit St. Petersburg

Toko Shengelia erupted for a career-high 33 points (12/20 FG, 7/11 FT) to lead CSKA Moscow to a 77-67 victory over Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday evening at Megasport Arena in the Russian capital.

The Georgian forward spoke to the media after the game:

First of all, I’m happy that we won the game. If we don’t win, the numbers don’t mean anything. So I’m happy for my team. I’m really proud of my teammates. I think that we played great defensively and offensively. We moved the ball offensively and defensively we had a couple of minutes of struggle, but we came back. We never gave up and I’m glad, thank God, we won the game. From the beginning, we started good, but Zenit is, especially on the road you’ve see that they play great and we knew that at some point they would try to come back. Especially they have great shooters and also with those kinds of shooters you never know, but we kept our cool and we executed the game plan and we won the game.”
