Valencia opened slowly again and paid for it, falling behind 6-17 after 5:18 as Partizan — led by the heavily booed ex Peñarroya — jumped on the momentum. Thompson changed the tone with seven points in a 12-3 burst that cut it to 18-20, yet Partizan still took the first quarter 22-18 after Fernando scored late.
The second quarter turned into a back-and-forth battle. Parker’s three restored a seven-point Serbian lead, then Key and Montero answered and the gap stayed around two possessions, with Jones’ three-point play making it 29-31. Valencia then produced an 11-2 run capped by Badio’s three for a 40-37 edge, but Partizan replied through Bonga, Montero and Washington to tie it at 43-43 at the break.
The game remained level deep into the third (55-55 after Montero), and while Bonga and Brown briefly nudged Partizan ahead, Valencia finished the quarter with Thompson’s two straight threes to lead 65-63. In the fourth, Thompson’s 17th point made it +4, a 6-0 push stretched the margin, and a “Reuvers show” — five straight points (14 total) — opened a three-possession cushion at 80-71 before Valencia closed it out 86-73 to secure its 13th win and top the standings at midseason.
