The veteran guard is considering Dubai’s lucrative offer while the Greek club insists on a significant buyout

Tensions between Thomas Walkup and Olympiacos continue to rise. According to SDNA‘s Unknown Matters show, the veteran guard and his representatives have contacted the EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA) to seek clarification regarding the buyout requested by the Greek club. Walkup, who still has one year remaining on his contract, has reportedly received a three-year, $9 million offer from Dubai Basketball.

Olympiacos, however, is unwilling to release him without receiving substantial compensation, with reports suggesting a €3 million buyout request. Many around European basketball consider that figure excessive for a player earning approximately €1 million per season.
