As ESPN revealed, Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier was hit with an $8.2 million tax lien from the IRS in November 2023 — the same year he allegedly took part in a sports betting scheme.
According to a federal indictment, Rozier tipped off a friend about plans to exit a March 2023 game early due to a “foot injury,” allowing bettors to profit from inside information. The pair allegedly shared $100,000 in proceeds from the scheme.
Rozier has been placed on leave by the NBA and denies wrongdoing: “I’m not a gambler and I’ll fight this case,” said his attorney. Records show no lien release has been filed, meaning the tax debt remains unresolved.
