According to AS, La Laguna Tenerife have signed a 3+2 agreement to enter the new format of ECA’s second-tier competition

La Laguna Tenerife will switch European competitions next season, leaving the Basketball Champions League to join the EuroCup.

According to AS, the Spanish club has signed one of the new 3+2 contracts introduced by the ECA competition: three guaranteed years, with the option to extend for two more seasons.

The move is significant, as Tenerife had been a regular presence in the BCL since 2016, playing four finals and winning two titles.

The new EuroCup format will feature 32 teams divided into four groups of eight, followed by a Top 16 and best-of-three quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. Interest has grown sharply, with 42 clubs reportedly applying to take part.
