Syntainics MBC have named Milenko Bogicevic as their new head coach. The 49-year-old Serbian is expected in Weißenfels on Tuesday morning and is set to make his debut on Thursday at 7:00 pm in the away game at Ludwigsburg (Round 21 of the easyCredit BBL).
Bogicevic takes over from Silvano Poropat, the club’s sporting director who stepped in as interim head coach for five games following Marco Ramondino’s departure. He signed a deal through the end of the 2025/26 season and arrives after spending two and a half years with Avtodor Saratov, the longest coaching tenure in the club’s history.
Alongside his club role, Bogicevic has worked as an assistant coach with the Serbian national team since the start of the season. He is widely known for a long stint as Sasa Obradovic’s assistant across multiple stops, including ALBA Berlin (2012-2016) and AS Monaco (2019/20 and 2022/23), plus roles in Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Serbia. As a head coach, he also led Prometey (2021) before Saratov.
“I thank the club leadership for their trust,” Bogicevic said, calling MBC “a club with a big heart and a great soul,” and stressing the need to quickly build chemistry to secure the wins required.
