The future of Sylvain Francisco could significantly impact the balance of power in European basketball. The Žalgiris Kaunas point guard has attracted strong interest from several EuroLeague clubs, but according to Eurohoops, the French guard would like to secure an NBA contract for next season.
Speaking to Nova Sports, Francisco commented on his situation:
“Žalgiris is and will always be in my heart. We’ll see how things go because, as I said, there are many teams interested. I’m aware of the interest from other teams, but maybe I’ll stay at Žalgiris for another year, or we’ll see where I go. I believe that sometimes, when you change teams, you need to understand the vision, the coaches, the team, and how you can be efficient and involved within the group. Sometimes it’s positive to join a team, and then things don’t go as expected.
But as I said, I’ve always faced many difficulties and I’ve always managed to find a positive solution. So I won’t say anything definitive. I’ll just say that there are many teams interested and we’ll see how things develop. I’m super focused.”
When asked specifically about interest from Panathinaikos B.C. and Olympiacos B.C., Francisco replied:
“They’re also there. That’s the news, but there are many others… We’ll see. As I said, I’m not in a hurry. I’m super focused.”
