After Greece’s win over Cyprus at EuroBasket 2025, Vassilis Spanoulis called the anthem moment historic: “It was the first time in history we heard one anthem. It’s a huge pride, I’m very happy. We play for all Greeks, those at home and abroad”.
The coach also reviewed the game: “At the start we were a bit relaxed, then we played well. Tomorrow against Georgia we need energy and we must do a better job on rebounds. It’s not about lacking players, it’s about habit”.
Spanoulis stressed the importance of dialogue: “I always want to listen to ideas from players, friends and family. We have great communication, we’re all on the same page. That’s how we’ll improve during the tournament”.
