Marc Gasol announced his decision to retire from basketball at age 39 during a press conference in Barcelona.
Pau’s brother has been the protagonist of a career full of success between club and national team, peaking with the NBA title in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors jersey.
With the Memphis Grizzlies he was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 and was included in the All-NBA first team in 2015.
Gasol also won two World Cups and two European Championships with Spain, as well as two silver medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
His last feat as a player was perhaps the most heartfelt, two seasons with his Girona and the promotion to the ACB.
