Panathinaikos AKTOR wrapped up Round 25 of the EuroLeague by edging ASVEL Villeurbanne 79-78 on the road, in a game described more as an obligation than a showcase. Kostas Sloukas led the way with 26 points, nine assists and a 36 PIR performance, with Jerian Grant and Richaun Holmes also highlighted in key roles.
The start was shaky for Panathinaikos, falling behind 8-0 early before settling after changes and timely shot-making. The game stayed gritty through the second quarter, but the visitors found enough solutions to take a 35-29 lead into halftime and later created their first double-digit cushion in the third.
Late on, Panathinaikos let the margin slip, going from +15 (69-54 with 4:12 left) into a tense finish as ASVEL closed to within one. Still, the Greens held on to improve to 15-10 and now look ahead to hosting Real Madrid (Feb. 3) and visiting Partizan (Feb. 5); ASVEL dropped to 6-19 and next travels to Virtus Bologna.
