Fontecchio scored 19.2 points per game at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics

Simone Fontecchio spoke to the press at the Baskonia media day.

The talented forward of the Italian national team talked about his first steps with coach Ivanovic and his goals for the season.

“We are paying a lot of attention to the defense and to the little things on offense, we will have to be smarter to make up for the absences of Costello and Peters (injured). I will probably have to play more as power forward, but that’s not a problem, I’ve already done so many times. For now, Ivanovic is asking us for simple things ”.

On the duo with Rokas Giedraitis.

“We are similar, with him on the court I can play more in the post, we can be aggressive and change in defense, this can be an important tactical weapon”

Personal and team goals.

“We are working to become a very tough and aggressive team, we have a lot of important players.

We have to fight to win the maximum number of games.

I had a very long but very beautiful summer. I am very happy and although I have not had much time to rest, I am physically fine. I want to become a better player at this level ”.
