The French club is back in European competition after two seasons away, choosing the BCL as part of its rebuilding project

SIG Strasbourg has confirmed its return to European competition for the 2026-27 season, opting to play in the Basketball Champions League.

The decision follows a rebuilding season under a new leadership group, after a difficult period marked by governance instability, financial issues and declining sporting results.

The French club also evaluated the EuroCup, but chose the BCL for sustainability reasons. Its six guaranteed group-stage games were considered a better fit for the current stage of the project than the EuroCup’s 14-game minimum schedule.
