In a recent interview with Mozzart Sport, Shabazz Napier, the new point guard for Crvena Zvezda, discussed his readiness for the upcoming 2023/24 season. “I always strive to be the best player on the court, so when we talk about a leadership role, it’s something I’ve always managed to be throughout my career,” Napier said.
The American-Puerto Rican player, who had an impressive season in Italy with Olimpia Milano, is expected to fill the shoes of Facundo Campazzo. “I’m excited about this team. I think we can do great things,” he added.
Napier also mentioned his excitement to play alongside Miloš Teodosić, one of the team’s best players. “I think together we can do something special,” he said.
The point guard has had the opportunity to work with renowned coaches like Ettore Messina and is looking forward to working with Duško Ivanović, another proven EuroLeague coach. “I’m excited to see what the collaboration will look like,” Napier stated.
The team has undergone numerous changes, with Napier being one of 10 new players. He believes that there will be no issues in terms of chemistry, especially between point guards and centers. “We have a great group of centers, each of them does some things brilliantly, which is essential for us as a team,” he said.
Napier is also looking forward to the derbies with Partizan Mozzart Bet. “They have an excellent team. It will be exciting. Anyone who wants to step on the court and loves to compete wants to play against great players,” he concluded.
