Seth Trimble commits to Louisville after leaving North Carolina

Seth Trimble has committed to the University of Louisville for the 2026-27 college basketball season after deciding to leave North Carolina.

Trimble said he still considers Chapel Hill “home,” but explained that North Carolina’s already full roster led him to look for a new opportunity where he could continue his college career.

The veteran guard is among several players who were recently granted a fifth year of NCAA eligibility following a legal ruling. However, the NCAA is challenging that decision, meaning it is not yet guaranteed that Trimble and the other affected players will ultimately receive an additional season of eligibility.

As a senior with the Tar Heels, Trimble averaged 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game, establishing himself as one of the team’s key contributors.

The 6-foot-3 point guard also played for the Washington Wizards during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, but he did not sign a professional contract. As a result, he remains eligible—for now—to return to college basketball if the legal ruling is upheld.
